White ants in Riyadh: why a cockroach spray does not fix them
A kitchen spray kills a cockroach walking on a surface. White ants live in timber and soil, often nowhere near the place you sprayed. People then say the company “did not work”, when the job was aimed at a different insect.

How to tell them apart
White ants are not sugar ants on the marble. Signs that call for an inspection:
- Mud tubes on a wall, or where wood meets the floor.
- Wood that sounds hollow, or a door frame that crumbles.
- Shed wings near a window after a short flight, then the insect is gone.
- Timber furniture against a damp wall or an underground store.
These are signs, not a diagnosis from a phone photo. The inspection looks at the wood and at soil contact.
Why a cockroach spray fails here
- Mist on the tile and inside a cupboard never reaches a colony in the soil or inside the timber.
- Eggs and wood already eaten out from the inside stay after whatever was on the surface is dead.
- Repeating the same surface pesticide spends the money and does not move the infestation.
The right visit starts where timber touches the ground or a leak, not at the cutlery drawer. Ask for the product name and its Saudi Food and Drug Authority registration number, as in the cockroach guide, and for a written follow-up rather than “a spray and done”.
Do not mix pesticides yourself, and do not inject timber without knowing the construction. That is a technician’s job after the inspection.
Bed bugs are not cockroaches either
Bed bugs sit in mattress layers, bed edges, and joints, and you notice them on skin more than on the kitchen floor. Spraying open rooms does not reach a seam. If the signs are in the bedroom and not at the sink, say so when you book so the visit is not treated as kitchen cockroaches.
What to send before a price
- Where you saw the sign: kitchen, wooden door, store, bedroom.
- Whether the house is newly finished or old, and whether there is damp or a leak.
- Photos of tubes, wings, or the wood, not a wide shot of the majlis.

I see small ants in the kitchen. Are those white ants?
Usually no. Kitchen ants are after food on the surface. White ants show up as wood, soil, and mud tubes. A close photo separates them, and the inspection confirms it.
Should I spray the door frame myself?
No. Spray on the paint does not reach the inside, and it can scatter the problem. Inspection first.
Does a deep clean prevent white ants?
A deep clean takes away food for kitchen cockroaches. White ants do not live on crumbs. Damp and wood touching the ground are what the inspection looks for.
How many visits will I need?
